Before my travel to Boracay Island on July 19, 2019, I always imagine Boracay as pristine as Anawangin Cove with very limited facility. I was a bit shocked to learn in person that it’s actually composed of highly urbanized barangays that could match Poblacion, Makati anytime. It’s filled with amenities and restaurants and other establishments to the brim.
Boracay Island and it’s 3 barangays are part of the Municipality of Malay in the Province of Aklan in the Island of Panay, in the Visayas Group of Islands.
I visited the Church of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary near Willy’s Rock. There’s also a post office nearby and the status of Jose Rizal. On my way back to the mainland, I took some pictures of the Boracay Highway Central (Circumferential Road) which is being improved/rehabilitated at that time.
I later found out that Boracay Island is divided into Barangays Yapak, Balabag and Manoc-Manoc. The high-end resorts are in Yapak. Stations 1, 2 and 3 are in Balabag while the ports going to Panay Mainland is in Manoc-Manoc.
Here’s more info from PhilAtlas.

Jose Rizal’s Monument in Boracay. With the amount of taxes that the local government of Malay, Aklan collects from the tourist visiting Boracay Island, Jose Rizal deserves a better statue.
