Last March 8, 2020 we attended the Philippine Hot Air Balloon Festival at the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite. The Philippine Hot Air Balloon Festival usually takes place in Clark, Pampanga but this year, for some reason, it was held in Cavite.
There were fewer balloons at this year’s festival
I believe this was the last major tourist event that happened before the government declared the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila and nearby areas was announced by the president on March 12, 2020.
We were with our photography club members when we attended this event, and it was not as vibrant as the previous balloon festivals. The participants/riders of the hot air balloons were lesser and the balloons themselves were regular-shaped ones. The venue was also smaller that made the attendees cramped in such a small area.
We were at the venue around 5:00 AM and when all the balloons were finally on the air, we left the venue around 10:00 AM after seeing the other booths and activities. We had a lunch meeting at a nearby restaurant before heading back home to Manila.
